Reggiani Vilela Goncalves

Associate professor

Federal University of Vicosa

Associate professor at Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil.  For 10 years, I have have been dedicating time to investigate more efficient new strategies in pre-clinical models to repair lesion tissues and to treat neglected infectious diseases. In the area of tissue repair, I identified natural products obtained from plants and animals with increased potential to accelerate the healing of skin wounds. In the last years, my team tested more than 10 natural compounds used in cooking and folk medicine and showed that these compounds presented positive effects in repairing different tissues, with emphasis in cutaneous, cardiac, and hepatic lesions. These research initiatives have been discussed in national and international conferences, as well as, in more than 100 publications in international scientific journals. The process of obtaining and applying these molecules in tissue repair made possible the application of three patent deposits that resulted in the developed of new drugs.

Area of Interests

She work in the area of general pathology and Human physiology. Her studies are focuses on research in biotechnological potential for the development of drugs that promote skin, liver and lung repair associated or not with diabetes and the development of alternatives for the treatment of Chagas disease with strategies in toxicological analysis.
